package allows Maya users to render Maya Hair
Systems in mental ray for Maya *
MR_hairSystem
allows Maya users to accurately render either,
Maya Hair System guides (dynamic NURBS curves) or clumps (pfxHair) as geometry in mental ray for Maya, so
that can take advantage of any mental ray feature
like Raytracing, FG, GI, Caustics, Motion Blur and
to properly integrate it with any other scene
geometry.
MR_hairSystem
package provides a geometry shader to generate the
hair geometry from the Maya Hair Systems as well as
material and utility shaders to build Maya shading
networks in order to texture it. The package is
pretty easy to use and provides a full integration
in Maya to render its Hair Systems in mental ray for
Maya.
Since
hair geometry is generated only at rendertime, users
can take advantage of handling small scene files and
to get playback fast without dealing with any type
of hair geometry in the viewports. Advanced
rendering features like IPR, true motion blur and shading
overrides are supported by the shaders. Also, the
new MR_hairSystem package allows to export the hair
geometry to the mental ray standalone renderer and
to take advantage of the mental ray hair primitives.
