01-

What is it ?
nurbsData is a true NURBS wireframe and components software Renderer.
02- Is it a standalone Renderer ?
No. nurbsData is a post-process rendering node Plug-In for Maya.
03- What types of NURBS does it support ?
nurbsData supports full NURBS curves and surfaces geometry (wireframe rendering) as well as full NURBS curves and surfaces components (Trim Edges/Hulls/Control Vertices/Edit Points/Patches Centers/Normals and Origins rendering).
04- Does it render NURBS exactly as the viewports display them ?
Yes. Number and position of isoparms (surfaces) as well as number and position of visible components (curves and surfaces) are kept intact in software rendering. Have a look at gallery area.
05- Does it support constant thickness rendering ?
Yes. nurbsData renders everything with constant thickness accross NURBS independently of geometry and camera positions; wireframe and components thicknesses are set in pixel units.
06- Does it support shading ?
Yes. nurbsData supports every Maya shading node/network (Materials/2D Textures/3D Textures/Utility shading nodes) for NURBS wireframe rendering.
07- Does it support shading for NURBS curves ?
Yes. nurbsData supports NURBS curves shading as well.
08- Does it support wireframe on shaded rendering ?
Yes. nurbsData allows to render wireframe on shaded for NURBS surfaces.
09- Does it support Hidden-Line rendering ?
Yes. nurbsData's engine supports Hidden-Line rendering for NURBS curves and surfaces (wireframe and components).
10- Is its rendering fast ?
Yes. nurbsData was developed to render NURBS faster; its unique sampling techniques and raster algorithms allows the user to view results very quickly.
11- Does it support render region ?
Yes. nurbsData supports region rendering in Maya's render window.
12- Does it support batch rendering ?
Yes. nurbsData supports Maya's batch rendering.
13- Does it support different render settings per NURBS object ?
Yes. nurbsData allows user to set different values per NURBS object such us thicknesses, colors and spline/line patterns.
14- Does it support different shaders per NURBS object ?
Yes. nurbsData allows user to assign different Maya shaders/shading networks per NURBS object.
15- Is it fully integrated in Maya ?
Yes. nurbsData is fully integrated in the Maya environment. It uses the frame buffer to render. Users are able to mix backgrounds, solids, wireframe and components without compositing them.
16- Does it support wireframe shadow casting ?
No. nurbsData does not support wireframe shadow casting.
17- Does it support glow effects ?
No. nurbsData does not support glow effects.
18- Does it support reflexions/refractions ?
No. nurbsData does not support reflexions/refractions.
19- Does it support IPR ?
No. nurbsData does not support Maya's IPR.
20- Does it support motion blur ?
No. nurbsData does not support motion blur.
21- Does it render alpha and z-depth channels ?
Yes. nurbsData renders alpha and z-depth channels during post-process pass.
22- Does it take Maya's render settings ?
Yes. nurbsData takes resolution and sampling render settings automatically from Maya Render Globals.
23- Does it support polygons surfaces as well ?
No. nurbsData is a NURBS Renderer exclusivelly.
Have a look at polyData shader.
24- Does it support geometry instances ?
Yes. nurbsData supports geometry instances rendering.
25- Does it support Layers ?
Yes. nurbsData supports Display Layers.
26- What Maya version does it support ?
nurbsData Plug-In is available for Maya 6.5 and 7.0 only.
27- Does it support Maya's mental ray Renderer ?
No. nurbsData supports Maya's native Software Renderer only.
28- What's the difference between nurbsData and polyData Plug-Ins ?
nurbsData supports NURBS only and it renders TRUE NURBS wireframe.
polyData supports Polygons only and it renders TRUE Polygons wireframe.
29- What Operating Systems does it support ?
nurbsData Plug-In is available for WIN32 (Windows 2000/XP), LINUX (Red Hat 9.0 - x86) and Mac (OSX 10.3/10.4)
